Personal Injury - Asbestos-related disease, industrial injury claims
Since qualifying as a Solicitor, Ingrid has acted for clients in a wide range of personal injury cases. She specialises in all manner of claims relating to accidents at work and has handled numerous public liability claims such as tripping and slipping accidents.
In addition, Ingrid handles claims on behalf of individuals who have developed asbestos related conditions as result of previous exposure to asbestos dust. She also works with clients who have suffered from hearing loss as a result of exposure to excessive noise, and has experience in dealing with work-related upper limb disorder claims. Ingrid acts for individuals who have suffered injuries to their back, shoulders and arms, for example, as a result of the repeated lifting or handling of products.
Ingrid also has experience of making claims to the CICA (Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority).
Before joining the firm in 2010, Ingrid spent a number of years representing individuals on behalf of various Union clients and, as a result, gained experience of the issues relating to different types of industries and work environments.
She is committed to securing the best possible outcome for her clients and whenever appropriate and possible will seek to obtain an interim or up-front payment of compensation at the earliest opportunity. Ingrid prides herself on taking time to understand each client’s individual needs. This is of paramount importance when an individual has been diagnosed with a terminal illness or is dealing with a bereavement, for example.
"It is very satisfying to be able to obtain a positive outcome and recover compensation for claimants who have suffered injuries or developed medical conditions through no fault of their own as a result of being exposed to poor working conditions or systems of work."
• A client who had been diagnosed with mesothelioma, a terminal asbestos-related cancer. Due to the client’s limited life expectancy, speed was of the essence in dealing with the claim. Within four months of instruction a settlement of £120k was obtained.
• A client who had suffered injuries to her hands as a result of being exposed to a poor system of work while employed in a school kitchen. The local authority denied responsibility. In court the client was awarded £20k in personal injury compensation.
• A client who had developed pleural thickening as a result of asbestos dust exposure at work. Despite this having taken place many decades earlier, the client’s previous employers accepted responsibility for his condition and paid out total compensation of £25k.
• A client who had suffered soft tissue injuries to his back and hip and also some damage to his hearing as a result of being struck by a truck while at work. In addition to securing a settlement of £21k from the employer, Ingrid was able to arrange rehabilitation treatment and the fitting of suitable hearing aids for the client as part of the claim.
"I would like to thank you for the cheque received and for all the support you have given to me with this claim. I will recommend you very highly to family and friends. Again, a big thank you." Mr W, Yorkshire
